Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella - 1997

  • Cinderella: I'm not sure I want to met this stranger. I doubt he has any idea how a girl should be treated.
  • Prince: Like a Princess I suppose.
  • Cinderella: No. Like a person, with kindness and respect.
  • Cinderella: You're my fairy godmother?
  • Fairy godmother: You got a problem with that? Because if you'd rather have some old lady in a tutu sprinkling fairy dust on you I can..
  • thelivingandthededalus:

Happy birthday to Brandy Norwood, born February 11, 1979!

    1. Have you guys ever watched the Disney’s live action 1997 version of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella? Cause it’s one of my favorites and you should watch it.

"Do I want you because you’re wonderful? Or are you wonderful because I want you?"

    lickingdoorknobs:

okay so I absolutely adore Disney’s 1950 Cinderella, but my absolute favorite is Rodger & Hammerstein’s 1997 Cinderella

people are like “oh no white king, black queen, asian prince?! that’s not physically possible!!” but seriously dude you’re talking about a movie in which a godmother uses magic to turn a pumpkin into a carriage.

Please consider this photoset my fervent apology for allowing this post come out of the queue without my intended commentary about the 1997 Cinderella film starring Brandy, Whitney Houston, Jason Alexander, Whoopi Goldberg, Paolo Montalban, Bernadette Peters and many more. You can watch the trailer at IMDB, or just buy the DVD for ten bucks on Amazon. I may or may not remember being utterly captivated by this when it came out on TV, being far too old to watch fairy tale movies by then. ;)

Fairytales aren’t just about finding handsome princes. They’re about fulfilling your dreams. And about standing up for what you believe in.
